Donating to the ACDSF
Thank you for your interest in suporting the Alex Cohen Diabetes Scholarship Fund.
Funds are sought to enable the Diabetes Research Foundation of WA (DRFWA) to award 1 Alex Cohen Diabetes Top-up Scholarship per year for 20 years. Funds will be held in a dedicated account and will be released to The University of Western Australia as scholarships are awarded. Interest from which will be credited to the Scholarship Fund.
The DRFWA will manage the fund and provide the financial governance structure. It will not be a perpetual fund as it will provide scholarships for as long as funds are available. DRFWA will cover all administrative costs.
The DRF will have the discretion to award more than one a year if the proposals are worthy or not award a scholarship at all if there is insufficient interest. The overall aim is to establish this as a 20- year initiative. The first Alex Cohen Diabetes Scholarship was awarded in 2010 to Lakshini Weerasekera for the establishment and characterization of a mouse model of diabtic retinopathy at the Centre fro Diabetes Research.
